Almost half of all drivers who were killed in crashes and tested positive for drugs also had alcohol in their system.
Around 7% of drivers, most of which under 35, in deadly traffic crashes tested positive for THC, an ingredient found in marijuana. 21% of these drivers had alcohol levels that exceeded the legal limit.
In 2013, drunk driving (.08 BAC or higher) claimed the lives of 93 people in New Mexico, accounting for 30% of all traffic fatalities.
